3.0 BEHAVIOUR POLICY.

3.1) Course or event participants must behave responsibly at all times while in attendance and be mindful of their own safety and the safety of other participants as well as the safety of other members of the public who may be present in the work area.

3.2) Behaviour that puts others at risk will not be tolerated and if requests to desist are ignored then this will result in immediate expulsion from the course or event in question.

3.3) Poor conduct or offensive behaviour towards staff, other participants or members of the public whilst attending any course or event run by The Wild Side of Life will not be tolerated. In particular, racist, sexist, prejudiced or offensive behaviour towards others will result in immediate expulsion from the event and permanent barring from attendance at all future Wild Side of Life courses and events.

3.4) Poor conduct or offensive behaviour by staff, volunteers or other representatives of The Wild Side of Life, directed towards participants or members of the public attending any course or event run by The Wild Side of Life will not be tolerated. In particular, racist, sexist, prejudiced or offensive behaviour towards others will result in immediate expulsion from the event. If, after evaluating the course of events that have taken place and all available evidence, a complaint about inappropriate behaviour is deemed to be a truthful and accurate account, then the complaint will be upheld and any member of staff, volunteer or other representative of The Wild Side of Life who is held responsible will be permanently barred from attendance at all future Wild Side of Life courses and events.

3.5) These policies will be strictly enforced and complaints against individuals will always be taken seriously, including assisting the relevant law enforcement agencies with their enquiries should this ever become necessary.

4.0 HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY.

4.1) The Wild Side of Life conducts business in accordance with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and any other statutory regulations depending on the relevant circumstances that apply in each given workplace situation. These can include but are not limited to The PUWER Regulations 1998, The COSHH Regulations 2002 and The Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981/2015.

4.2) Representatives of The Wild Side of Life involved in the preparation, storage and serving of food are trained and qualified to a minimum UK standard of NVQ Level 2 in FOOD SAFETY & HYGIENE FOR CATERING.

4.3) If you are a participant of a course, event or workshop held by The Wild Side of Life, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have let us know in advance about any health issues (whether physical, mental or emotional in nature) that you may have, including relevant allergies (bee stings, food allergies, etc.,) and other medical conditions which could affect your own safety and by extension could place the safety and wellbeing of others present in the group into jeopardy.

5.0 CANCELLATIONS POLICY.

5.1) If a course or event is cancelled by The Wild Side of Life for any reason, customers will be offered a choice of full remuneration of the amount that has been paid, or a place on a similar course or event, or a gift certificate for an amount up to the value of the fee paid which can be used to purchase places on similar courses or events in the future, or any combination of the above.

5.2) In practice cancellation of courses and events happens very infrequently and we always do the utmost to ensure that your event will run smoothly. However, due to unforseen circumstances cancellations do inevitably occur, in particular resulting from freak weather conditions which would affect the health and safety of participants, such as snow or high winds if the event is to take place in woodland.

5.3) If you, as the customer, decide to cancel your place on any course or event, please note that the following terms and conditions apply directly to you:

5.4) If we receive notice of your cancellation more than 28 full days (including weekends and public holidays) before the course or event is due to start, you will be eligible for a full refund of any amount you have paid to us minus a 10% administration charge. We will refund the amount to you by direct bank transfer or in exceptional circumstances by PayPal. Please note that The Wild Side of Life does not issue cheques.

5.5) If we receive notice of your cancellation less than 28 full days but more than 7 full days (including weekends and public holidays) before the course or event is due to start, you will be eligible for a 60% refund of any amount paid to us minus a 10% administration charge. We will refund the amount to you by direct bank transfer or in exceptional circumstances by PayPal. Please note that The Wild Side of Life does not issue cheques.

5.6) If we receive notice of your cancellation less than 7 full days (including weekends and public holidays) before the course or event is due to start, you will not be eligible for any refund of the course or event fee. In exceptional circumstances (for example in the case of a serious illness or accident) a refund of all or a part of the amount paid for the course or event may be offered at the sole discretion of The Wild Side of Life.

5.7) Please note that in the case of group bookings, the sickness or injury of one of the parties due to be in attendance will not be viewed as a valid reason for the non-attendance of other members of the group. If offered at all, remuneration, whether financial or in the form of other products, would only be offered to the person directly affected by the serious illness, injury or other reason considered to be valid by us. Since other members of the group would still be free to make their own arrangements to attend the course or event, The Wild Side of Life will not consider offering them remuneration or compensation for non-attendance.

5.8) This item and item 5.9) apply specifically to club memberships and not to courses. Club memberships come as a package with a variety of different benefits that are available to members for a pre-determined period of time and represent exceptionally good value when purchased as a package. Items like field trips may become more affordable to members than when they are purchased as an individual course. Benefits of club memberships include field trips, online support, forums, course materials, etc.  As far as is reasonably possible, The Wild Side of Life makes every attempt to ensure that all of the advertised benefits are available to members who have paid for full annual membership of a club and who have received confirmation of their membership status in writing.

5.9) On occasion, due to circumstances beyond our control, one or more of the benefits of a club membership may be limited or become unavailable; for example a field trip day in the forest may be cancelled due to very high winds that would make it unsafe for participants, or government restrictions (e.g. Coronavirus regulations) may not permit a meeting of some kind to go ahead. Under these circumstances The Wild Side of Life will make every effort to provide alternative arrangements. Specifically in the case of club memberships; The Wild Side of Life cannot be held responsible for the availability of attendees when alternative arrangements have been made. It is our experience that when an alternative date is provided, there will always be some members who cannot attend for their own personal reasons, being work or family commitments or other reasons. In these cases The Wild Side of Life will not provide additional alternative arrangements to the alternative arrangements that are provided. The Wild Side of Life is not responsible for an individual member’s availability to attend or access alternative arrangements that have been made. Under these circumstances club members may request a refund of a part of their membership fee, but this cannot be considered a right of membership. Partial refunds, when offered, are non-negotiable and offered at the discretion of The Wild Side of Life. Please note that club memberships constitute access to a variety of benefits, field trips notwithstanding, and that any remuneration offered will be calculated on a pro-rata basis that accounts for the combined cost of all of these member benefits. A full breakdown using up to date costings can always be provided on request.

6.0 FLEXIBILITY POLICY.

6.1) We understand that sometimes important or difficult life circumstances can prevent attendance at a course or event that has previously been booked and paid for. We endeavour to be as flexible as we can so as to enable our customers to attend in the light of difficult circumstances. Please notify us as soon as you can of any intention to change your attendance date. We will try our best to accommodate your change, subject to paragraphs 6.2 to 6.5 below.

6.2) Our obligation to fulfil bookings made for courses or events in any given year shall cease on the 14th of November of the year (being the 12 month period) that the course is / was to take place, unless a special arrangement has been made to postpone your booking or carry it forward to another course or event (see paragraphs 6.3 and  6.4).

6.3) Requests to change the date of attendance or postpone attendance to a different course / date / event must be made 28 days or more prior to the commencement of the course or event for which the original booking was made. Requests to do so within 28 days of commencement of the scheduled course or event will only be carried out at the discretion of Fred Gillam / The Wild Side of Life. Such requests may be refused without obligation. Requests made to change the attendance date, or to transfer to a different course or event, made within 28 days of the date scheduled for the course or event to take place, cannot always be fulfilled due to existing limitations on numbers of participants. Where it is not possible to fulfil such attendance requests the booking will become subject to our cancellations policy (see paragraphs 5.5 to 5.6 above). Requests to change the date of attendance or postpone attendance to a different course / date / event made more than 28 days prior to the commencement of the course or event for which the original booking was made, will be honoured subject to settlement of any difference in the advertised cost, providing that the required places are available. If availability of places prevents this from being the case, the booking will become subject to our cancellations policy (see paragraphs 5.5 to 5.6 above).

6.4) Repeated cancellation of attendance and / or repeated requests to postpone or transfer bookings to other courses or events at a later date may be met with refusal. Our obligation to fulfil bookings will end after midnight on the 13th of November in whichever year (being a 12 month period) that the course or event was to take place. Carrying forward bookings to subsequent years will take place only at the discretion of Fred Gillam / The Wild Side of Life, subject to being given at least 28 days notice of the intention to make the change. For contractual purposes, if the new date offered takes the date of attendance past the 13th of November cut-off date, then the original booking will be regarded as having expired, and any future offering of a place made in its stead will be regarded as a voluntary good-will gesture, made by Fred Gillam / The Wild Side of Life, to the customer. The Wild Side of Life is not under any obligation to renew such gestures repeatedly or indefinitely. Please note that we may politely refuse your request if you ask to do so.

6.5) Where postponement of attendance at a course or event to the following year has been agreed between the customer and The Wild Side of Life, but the dates and arrangements for the following year have not yet been finalised, it is the responsibility of the customer to find the information that they need, in due course and when those dates and arrangements have been published, by either contacting The Wild Side of Life directly, or by viewing the information when it has been published at www.thewildsideoflife.co.uk. Up to date information about courses and events, in particular the dates, times and changes to the status of the same, can be found either in the online course diary or on the dedicated page for the course or event in question.
